Statement from Jana Morgan, director of the Declaration for American Democracy, in response to the House’s passage of the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act:

“The Declaration for American Democracy applauds the House for swiftly passing the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act and putting Americans’ freedom to vote first.

“Now the Senate must follow suit. When the Senate begins debate on the bill, it’s imperative Senate Democrats do not let outdated and dysfunctional rules stand in the way of restoring the Senate and delivering safe, accessible, and transparent elections to the American people.

“The choice in front of every senator is a simple one: Do you support the freedom to vote? The Senate must pass the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act now.”
